plate 20cmx30cm
A deconstruction of William Hogarth’s ‘A Rakes Progress’. and ‘A Harlots Progress’. Using the original Hogarth engravings and taking them through a process of editing and reconstruction; creating new pictorial spaces these were then made into over 70 copper plate etchings. Hogarth’s original themes of self and societal destruction become absorbed within the imagery; by removing narrative and its moral commentary I wanted them to be a distillation of entropic forces.
